Bassin' at Lake Barkley
« on: November 13, 2012, 07:44:33 PM »
I fished at Barkley a few hours each day this past Saturday and Sunday. Kind of slow. I caught two non-keepers Saturday. One on a worm and the other on a rattletrap. I caught one on Sunday on a worm and a giant drum on a shadrap. According to everyone I spoke with the fishing was slow.

I spent Saturday night at Little River Lodge on Barkley. The room was spacious and clean. Plenty of hot water for showering and shaving. I ate the buffet for breakfast on Sunday and the food was good.

Sounds like a nice weekend Carter. The club I joined fished there earlier this year but I was unable to. I don't think it is too far from Nashville, maybe a couple hours. Approximately what portion of the lake is the location you fished? The wife is going to Portland in the morning for a few days and I may slip over to Percy Priest Thursday or Friday. I hear that it fishes good starting about this time of year. My outings are gonna get cut short a bit with my grandson being here. We are having family in for Thanksgiving for a whole week (eek!) and we are going to Kansas for Christmas and my daughter and her two boys will return with us for a week long visit. Between all that, riding herd on my grandson and the shorter days I may not get to fish as much as I would like but will get out enough to keep the gas fresh.

Steve, The places I went to are all on the North Lake Barkley fishing map. Little River is near 68/80 bridge. Eddy Creek is north of there and the the other place I fished, Nickel Branch is on west side of lake near canal.
Sounds like you will be pretty busy for a while. As long as my son's team keeps winning I am busy here too. We have a home game again this Friday. This is the third round of playoffs. If we make it to the state championship we will be in Bowling Green at the end of the month. That is our goal. My hunting partner is coming down Friday to watch the game then we are deer hunting this weekend.
I will be at KY/Barkley again in January. My oldest son will be in an all student produced/directed/acted opera at Murray State. My plan is to get down there early to fish before the opera, spend the night at the lodge and then fish the next day. If I can, I plan to stay at Kenlake Lodge. They have a good complimentary breakfast with great biscuits and gravy. Once I find out the date of his opera I'll let you know and maybe we could fish together.

Carter, That just might work for me. Things should slow down a bit after the holidays.

Sounds like you had a nice, enjoyable weekend, Carter.  Biscuits and gravy...my favorite breakfast.  :)
