Working on fishing arsenal ?????
« on: August 02, 2012, 04:14:47 PM »
I have been bass fishing for about 10 yrs now and I am more confused then I never have been.
Here is the problem I try to fish every type of lure and it is becoming a pain in  the Axx.

Crankbaits lots of them,  spinner baits, top water ( chuggers, propeller type, etc, etc,) Plastics can not begin to try and set up a arsenal for them.
Jigs, etc, etc  here is the question for yu=ou all to answer do you fish every type of lure, or do you select a  certain type of lure.

Let me know what you like and  why ???????????????????????????????

One day I want to fish jigs, and plastic I think the next day I want to fish crankbaits & top water lures, then I think I will set up and only fish swim baits & jerkbait and then and then it never ends.

How do you correct this problem I am to old to deal with all the crap involve with fishing.

George, I mostly fish soft plastics, jigs and spinnerbaits. Occasionally I will throw a crankbait. I guess one way to correct your problem is to bring only a few of the baits you think you will use and none of the others. Do this for a week. Then try a couple of the other baits for a week. Compare notes for all days fished and which baits worked the best then just stick to those. Of course the following week the baits you choose to stay with may not be working then you are back to square one. Of course you can do like I do and bring a few of each and have several different baits tied on and use them throughout the day. I can't choose either so I guess we have the same problem  ::2 :scratch

Pretty much soft plastics for me most of the time too.  Its just what I have the most confidence in.
In the mornings I use top waters a good bite, and around grass throw a swim jig a lot.

I like having many choices and trying different things. I always start the day with 8 to 10 baits I have confidence in based on where I am, conditions, etc..

When i get to go ..., i like to take the whole batch of goodies with me. That way, if i can figure something out, i might have it on board if i it becomes necessary to change to something else. I also tend to pre-rig certain favorites or certain lures ahead of time that are known to be good for  the given body of water, and will try a few different things from time to time especially when it's slow.

I like plastics because they catch fish most all the time. I like jigs in the cooler months here moreso than when it's extremely hot and crankbaits/spinnerbaits/buzzbaits for hunting them down. ...and catching them of course  ;D
