Any ideas on Rod Storage cabinet?
« on: March 10, 2014, 01:44:19 PM »
The house I am about to move into has Zero storage rooms, so I need to find a cabinet to put in the garage to put my rods and tackle in.    I do not want to mount holders on the wall or anything, but want to be able to lock them up.
I can not find a cabinet that is tall enough anywhere.  I need one at least 7'6" tall and all I see are 6 ft tall cabinet.

Any ideas? Hoping to just find something I can use to modify like the rubbermaid cabinets.

I found some plans to make one, but I do not have the tools to do so.

Maybe you can find an old armoir. Then you can mount rod holders in it.

Sounds like a weekend project with some plywood or mdf.  I don't believe I have ever seen anything like you want that is over 7' tall.

Hey Jack. I'm not sure exactly sure what is unacceptable in your situation but you could acquire something like the Rubbermaid cabinet that is lockable . Since it will be in the garage ( is that right ? ) maybe you could carefully cut a hole or a slotted hole for the rod tip to extend out the top.
Bass don't eat what they don't see.

The only other option I can think of is that if I lived nearby you could store them with me  ;D

I sure thought about that Carter and I might go that route if I cant get one built (by me or a freind). They make a 76" tall one.

Come on down :)

tube box cut to length, add bottom and shelf. Inside hinges. Anchor to a wall.
