Nashville/Gainesville
« on: May 28, 2013, 08:31:09 AM »
Somehow the plans the wife and I made all came together this last weekend and we made the move to Gainesville, FL. Things have been mostly a blur for a couple weeks now. I towed the champ from Nashville, TN to Gainesville on Sunday with no issues. We spent our last night in Nashville at the Opryland Hotel. It was a nice surprise for the wife. I've still got to resolve an issue with Sears. They jacked me around on an appliance repair. Just trying to do something nice for the wife has turned sour. We are still sizing up permanent residence options. Seems the wife and I don't exactly agree on what we need and what we want. Ha ha. Today I'm going to go somewhere to get the boat in storage temporarily and take the grandson swimming. I'm gonna list this boat after I get settled in a bit.

Well, we found a property that may work for us. It's about 25 miles west of Gainesville. 10 acres and room for this 7yr old to stretch his legs. Yesterday we played tourist and drove over to the Suwanee River about 15 miles from the property. I believe I'll get a chance to get a bass there. I hear there a special breed all to there own. It's an interesting looking river. The water is actually fairly clear but has so much tannin in it that it really looks like tea. There are several springs along the Suwanee and one is a park where you swim and picnic. We'll go back there with the grandson and maybe a new friend of his when we get settled. We got a little off the beaten path for a late lunch of locally renowned bar b q.  When we realize we were only about 25 miles from the Gulf we went ahead and drove over and had a quick look see. On the way back that evening we got sidetracked by a sign that said mudraces so we went there and watched rednecks punish their trucks until 11pm. It was an interesting day.
Jack, I saw a ton of center consoles down in this area. You'd think I might get excited about the saltwater but it hasn't happened yet.

Dayne, I'm trying to get my hands on a good 08 210. Know where one is ? I'm ready to have a bit more room and ponies. I'll miss the 187. I found one in Texas but I'll have to wait see if it's still around after I get settled here. Right at the moment I'm  holed up here with the wife and grandson in her one bedroom apt. I think we will be out of here in about 2-3 weeks.

This spring has been the least amount of fishing for me. The wife came to Gainesville April 1 and I have been busy with the grandson finishing his schoolyear and taking care of all the packing and moving responsibilities. What a job. I'll be glad when Rachel gets that gypsy streak out of her and we can land somewhere long enough to change addresses. LOL.

Giving up fishing ? That's funny right there.

If i was in your area, I would have a bay champ like this one http://www.boattrader.com/listing/2008-Champion-22-Bay-102019609.  You could do anything with it, and one day your going to get turned on to red and trout fishing I bet, and you can also go out in the gulf and have a ton of fun.

Jack, just stop that ! Ha ha. That is sweet looking champ. I may mess around and get drawn into that scenario at some point.  Ya think my little ole F150 will drag something like that down the road ?

Steve it might be a load.  It weighs in at 400# more than my 206.  Curt has a mid sized motor in his Ford 150 and Tee has a mid sized in his Chevy 1500.  Both can pull my 206 but the do a lot of shifting down especially on the way to Bull Shoals.

Have you wet a line down there yet?

Haha.  If I were rich I would have one of those boats!   After just getting back from the beach I want one even more.
