Under water camera
« on: January 15, 2014, 10:59:49 AM »
I have some gift card money from BPS.  I have been there 4 times and only spent $30.  I'm thinking of getting an underwater camera.  But I know nothing about them.  I'm looking at the Aqua VU 760cz.  Anyone have experience they can share.

Sorry, I have never used one nor been in a boat with anyone that had one. I was watching an episode of, "Hook 'n Look" the other day and they had one that appeared to work pretty well. But I forget what model it was.

My buddy had an older aqua view.   It was very hard to see in bright sunlight, but other wise if the water was very clear it was decent.  Muddy and stained water you could only see a couple of inches.   You could lower it to actually see if what you saw on the sonar was really a tree or a rock etc, and we used it to look under docks.

There is an underwater camera out that can hook to your phone or tablet called a Vexilar Fishphone.    Not sure how well it works but it cost $189.  Not sure if BPS carries it.

Well I took the gift card money and some birthday money, kicked in some more and got the 760cz.  It is supposed to have hd camera and the best pic out them.  It also comes with a 100' cord instead of the 50 like most others.

When I talked with AV they said the ones with dvr could only go out to 50' and did not have hd.  So I don't think I can save pics on this one.  I may be able to take some snap shots with my camera.  I will just have to wait and find out.
